Trial long range 22RF shoot Kaitoke - January 28th

This is intended as a trial to see if another style of shooting is of some interest to our members. The current HVNZDA range competitions are not of interest, going by the very low turnout to these events. I would like this to be inclusive and have it suitable for a wide range of skill, age and ability. It is also intended to be fun.

For this first shoot I am thinking of running it along these lines.

22RF only, two classes, Hunter (standard rifle with 0-9 scope) and Open, heavy barrel and or optics over 9x.  Shooters to use the same rifle for each stage, scope adjustment OK.

It’s a simulated field shoot so, bipods, slings, provided support or daypacks for support.

No gun rests or sand bags

Three shooting positions on the gravelled area, at multiple targets at different ranges.

 Behind a 1.2m barricade for close range 25-80m, behind a 600mm barricade for mid-range 50-120m and optional/prone position for the long shots 100m +.

Steel swinging targets of different sizes, so no going forward unless required repairing or painting the targets. Possible bonus targets.

If time allows we will also do a bench rest version on steel targets as well.

If this style of shooting does not appeal, then please free to offer to organize a match of your own style that may appeal to club members. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Check out Harry Hoovers Jungle lane web page.

What to bring.

$5 range fees, chamber flags are required in every firearm not in use. Eye and hearing protection, binoculars or spotting scope would to help with scoring. Plenty of ammo. Tea and coffee available please bring your own cup. A spare magazine or two would be handy.
